Sunshine Home Care ranks well on patient care survey, patients rate it a four star agency
We are excited as a home health agency to review our Home Health Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HHCAHPS) survey each year. This year we are happy to report that we've ranked at or above the state and national average in many categories.
The HHCAHPS survey is designed to measure the experiences of people receiving home health care from Medicare-certified home health agencies. The HHCAHPS is conducted for home health agencies by approved HHCAHPS Survey vendors (https://homehealthcahps.org).
This survey's intent is to provide meaningful and comparable data for patients and their families to decide which home health agency in their area they would like to use. To access this survey information, one can simply visit Medicare's Home Health Compare website.
There are two pieces to the survey results. The first piece is the Quality of Patient Care which measures health outcomes, and the second piece is the Patient Survey Results which measure the patient experience.
Quality of Patient Care
For the Quality of Patient Care piece, we are pleased to share that we have met or exceeded the state and national average in the following categories:
How often patients got better at:
Moving or walking around
Getting in and out of bed
Taking drugs by mouth
How often the home health team:
Began patient's care in a timely manner
Checked for patient's risk of falling
Checked for depression in patients
For patients with diabetes, got doctor's orders, gave foot care, and taught about foot care
Taught patients (or their caregivers) about drugs they are taking
We also had less occurrences of patients being admitted to the hospital while under our care than the state and national average.
Patient Survey Results
At Sunshine Home Care, we are extremely proud of our Patient Survey Results. These results give data driven evidence of how our patients feel about our care.
On this year's survey results, our patients have given us a four star rating. We strive every day to care for our home health patients as if they were our own family, and we are ecstatic to see that they feel this way about our care.
We outranked the national average in three categories for this portion of the survey including:
How well the home health care team communicated with the patient
How well the home health care team discussed medicines, pain and home safety with patients
How often the home health care team gave care in a professional manner
Moving Forward
Our focus at Sunshine Home Care is our patients, and while we are not "data heads" so to speak, these survey results give us the confidence to move forward. We feel that they truly show our patient first approach, and we will continue moving proudly in that direction.
